Interning With Us

Act Now Foundation is a non-profit organization, a Dementia Resource Center that supports families living and struggling with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. Our mission, to create a dementia-friendly New Jersey. We are funded through the counties of Hudson, Bergen, and Essex to provide our services, both in English and in Spanish, free of charge to its residents. These services include cognitive assessments, support/crisis management, long-term care planning, educational seminars, advocacy and outreach, first responder training, and virtual dementia tours. As a non-profit, we primarily serve low-income individuals and minorities.

We offer internships mainly for undergraduate and graduate students, but we have also worked with high schools such as Cliffside Park High School and Weehawken High School to provide students with hands-on experience before they jump into the next chapter of their lives.

Meet Favour Ikedife, a student majoring in neuroscience from Rutgers University who interned with us in the Summer of 2022 through the Rutgers Summer Service Internship Initiative.

  • What will I be doing during my internship?
As an intern, students in the field of social work will learn the policies of the organization and how they affect the client. We are looking for students interested in Community and Administrative Social Work. These students will participate in several different outreach events, grant reporting, program and client evaluation, and more in Community advocacy and Program Administration. Public health/health administration interns will assist in Health promotion, planning, and implementing programs that benefit the older adult community. They will gain experience in field and office work. Students will also participate and assist in the preparation of outreach, health administration, program development, and evaluation. Psychology students specifically in education, community, and social psychology will be involved in Caregiver Education programs, Support Groups, referrals from partnered agencies, and intakes of families to receive services and resources. The goal is to help educate families/caregivers on reducing stress to improve their mental health. If you are a marketing or communications major, you will be working primarily in the area of social media marketing and often use Canva for content creation. You might also work in the areas of email marketing (including our monthly newsletter) and online fundraising (particularly for our annual Giving Tuesday and Hudson Gives campaigns), and you might be introduced to Google Ads, Google Analytics, and more. You might also be asked to search and request auction items for our annual Music & Memories Gala, and to help us increase our educational seminars portfolio.
